Perth Thunder Game Worn Jerseys for "Kids Cancer Support Group" Online Auction

The Life Family Support Group of Children with Cancer and Leukaemia was established in 1983 as a parent run support group for Ward 3B, the Total Care Unit at Princess Margaret Hospital. The non-profit organisation & registered charity helps support children with cancer and their families to provide ongoing education, social events and a newsletter as well as purchasing play equipment and medical equipment for the Ward.

During this time another group, The Evelyn Pilbeam Fund (which was also parent run), was also in operation prior to its name change in 1989 to become the Childrens Cancer Support Group when the Oncology unit became a full member of the Children's Oncology Group (C.O.G.) in the United States. This group raised funds for attendance at the biannual COG meetings, a clinical research manager, support and general costs for being involved in COG such as sneding specimens and x-rays to the United State for central review.

In 1983, the Life Family Support Group of Children with Cancer and Leukaemia formed a sub-committee to raise funds for a house to be built to accommodate families from the country who required intensive treatment for cancer therapy. This sub-committee became The House of Life Group and raise $1.5 million to build the house big enough to accommodate 12 families. The hospital donated the land at 20 York Street, which was a hospital car park, to be the site for this house to be built.

In 1994, the Life Family Support Group of Children with Cancer and Leukaemia and the Children's Cancer Support Group merged under the name Kids Cancer Support Group.

The support group continues to be a parent-based volunteer non-profit organisation with the goal of being a primary point of contact & support for all WA families who have children diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders, and to provide a home away from home for the families and children to come together and feel included in an empathetic environment.

The Kids Cancer Support Group is dedicated to connecting, supporting and enriching the lives of these children in Ward 1A at Perth Children's Hospital. The support they provide ensures the whole family is included in the process from diagnoses, treatment, and beyond.

This Charity auction, sponsored by C.D. Dodd Scrap Metal Recyclers and The Grout Guy, provides an opportunity for Bidders to purchase Game Worn Jerseys from the Perth Thunder in an upcoming Match.
